A Personal Journey to Help Coaches Succeed

Hello everyone! My name is Chris Barry, and I’m the founder of TD Coach and the Coaching Mastermind Community. Today, I’m excited to share the story of why I started TD Coach and what drives me to help coaches build successful, purpose-driven businesses.

If you’ve been around the online coaching space, you’ve probably encountered some level of skepticism—and for good reason. Unfortunately, this industry is tainted by a few bad actors, people who over-promise and under-deliver, leaving their students without the support they need to succeed. I’ve personally witnessed this happen far too often, and it broke my heart. That’s why I’m here, to share not only why I created TD Coach, but how we aim to change the narrative in the online coaching world.

The Problem with the Online Coaching Industry

My journey in the online coaching space started with a passion for travel. At 18, I moved to Rome, Italy, and fell in love with seeing the world. But, like many people, I quickly realized that traditional education wasn’t teaching me the skills I needed to build a location-independent business. My university education didn’t prepare me to make money online, so I started searching for answers on my own. I bought countless courses, spent hours researching, and eventually found myself in high-ticket sales. This was my entry point into working with online coaches.

At first, I was excited to work with people who claimed they were helping others transform their lives. But the deeper I got into the industry, the more I realized that many of these so-called “coaches” were more interested in selling programs than ensuring the success of their clients. The sad reality is that a lot of online coaches are great at marketing but fall short when it comes to actually delivering value. They’ll sell you a shiny program, but once you’re inside, you realize there’s little support, minimal accountability, and almost no real desire to see you succeed.

This lack of commitment to student success bothered me deeply. I’ve seen people spend thousands of dollars on programs only to be left frustrated, confused, and no closer to their goals. As someone who worked on the sales side of these programs, I felt a moral responsibility to do better. I realized that many of these coaches were focused solely on marketing and sales, not on actually delivering results. The best marketers were the ones making millions, while coaches who genuinely cared about helping their clients struggled to gain traction because they didn’t know how to market themselves.

A Heart for Real Change: Why TD Coach Was Born

That’s when I decided something needed to change. I didn’t want to be part of an industry where success was determined by who could shout the loudest, not by who could help the most. I started TD Coach to give coaches who genuinely care about their clients the tools and strategies they need to succeed. These are the coaches who have the heart, the talent, and the expertise, but lack the marketing and sales knowledge to grow their business and reach more people.

At TD Coach, we believe in creating a holistic system that ensures success for both the coach and their clients. We don’t just teach coaches how to sell better—we help them build foolproof systems that increase the likelihood of success for their clients. We want to make it as easy as possible for students to succeed by providing them with clear steps, actionable strategies, and ongoing support.

The real reason I started TD Coach was to help shift the focus of the coaching industry back to what matters most: the success of the client. Yes, making money is important, but if your clients aren’t getting results, you’re failing them. I wanted to create a platform where coaches who are passionate about helping others could thrive, not just financially, but in making a real, positive impact on the lives of their clients.

Faith-Driven Purpose: Building More Than Just a Business

Another key aspect of TD Coach is the role faith plays in everything we do. I believe that my purpose in life is God-given. Jesus Christ came down to save us, and I know that part of my mission is to help others in a way that reflects God’s love and will. For me, this isn’t just about making money or teaching people how to sell—it’s about living out my faith through my work. I see my role in helping coaches as a way to spread God’s word and His love, especially when done with the right intentions and integrity.

When I help coaches who genuinely care about improving the lives of others, I believe I’m doing more than just helping them grow their business—I’m helping them fulfill their own God-given purpose. Together, we can make the world a better place, one transformed life at a time.

Changing the Narrative of the Coaching Industry

The online coaching industry is at a crossroads. We’ve seen too many students get burned by programs that were never designed to help them succeed. We’ve seen coaches who care deeply about their clients struggle to scale because they don’t know how to market themselves effectively. TD Coach is here to change that. We provide coaches with the marketing, sales, and business development tools they need to succeed while staying true to their core values.

It’s important to me that the online coaching space continues to be legitimized. I believe coaching is one of the most powerful ways to accelerate learning, growth, and transformation, both personally and professionally. When done right, coaching offers an incredible return on investment for both the coach and the client. It’s faster, more cost-effective, and more results-driven than traditional education. And yet, the industry has a bad reputation because of the bad actors who prioritize profit over people.
